The last chapter has put an end to a dizzying first season. Now the doubts are looming about when we will see the next season, and above all, what it will include. We have more information, and although it is still an unknown, everything seems to indicate that lhe second season of The Last of Us Will not cover the entire second game.

And is that those who have played The Last of Us Part II will have realized that it is a title much longer in size and story than the first, so it is logical that its story, brought to TV, is split into several parts.

This is precisely what its creators have commented. In an interview for GQco-creators Neil Druckmann (who also directed the video game) and Craig Mazin discussed their plans for the show’s second season, following the premiere of the first season finale.

The Last of Us is the premiere of the year and you can only watch it on HBO Max.

‘The Last of Us’ would get at least three seasons

When asked if season 2 will cover the entire story of the second game, Mazin responded: “No. No way.” Druckmann added, “It’s more than one season.” This statement, apparently, is tacit confirmation that the series creators’ intention for HBO is to make, at a minimum, three seasons.

In the interview they were directly asked how many seasons the series would have, and in particular how many the second game would cover, but the creators of The Last of Us remain particularly cryptic on this issue: “We will not say how many [temporadas]. But more than one is factually correct.”

And that is, spoiler alertPart II includes a non-linear narrative that tells two parallel stories, so that is going to be more complicated to condense into a few episodes.. This will, perhaps, open the door to more narrative interpretations as we have seen in the first season:

“I think we know what we’re doing in this case. I don’t say that sarcastically, I say that hopefully. There will be things that will be different and there will be things that will be identical. There are things that are going to be added and enriched. There are some things that are going to be changed. Our goal remains exactly the same as it was for the first season, which is to deliver a show that makes the fans happy.
