In the spring of 2021, RTL parted ways with the pop titan. Today Dieter Bohlen celebrates his return to the DSDS office and reveals what made him do it.
It was the TV hammer of the past year: RTL ended its collaboration with Dieter Bohlen after around two decades and reorganized the juries of the casting shows “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” and “Das Supertalent”. But despite the commitments of big names like Florian Silbereisen or Lukas Podolski, the turn was not crowned with success: the quotas fell.
While ‘Das Supertalent’ was initially banned from television by RTL, the DSDS broadcaster considered a different rescue plan and recently announced: Dieter Bohlen is back. In the 20th season of the talent show, the pop titan will once again sit on the judging panel. RTL would have been expensive, according to the media. However, money didn’t play a role on his return, the 68-year-old has now made it clear himself.
“It was a decision of the heart”
“There are people who would have paid more. It was a decision of the heart, purely emotional”, explained Dieter Bohle in the “Exclusive” interview with Frauke Ludowig. The end of the show last year was also emotional for him. That’s why he didn’t even follow the last DSDS season. “It just hurts,” the pop titan admitted. He missed the team, “his family”, very much after so many years together and is now all the happier to be back.
