Daredevil: Born Again to be reboot, confirmed by Charlie Cox

During the celebration of the D23 Expo Disney’s D23 Expo, one of the surprises was the appearance of Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. They are the main faces of Daredevil: Born Againthe series that Marvel and Disney are preparing for the year 2024. The production would be the first based exclusively on Matt Murdock and Kingpin, two classic comic book characters, after the story developed by Netflix.

His appearance was unexpected due to the fact that Daredevil: Born Again is not yet in the filming stage and Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe must attend to some unresolved issues, such as the closure of She-Hulk: Attorney Hulka or the premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. In that context, Charlie Cox offered information related to one of the questions about the series: is it a continuation of the story presented by Netflix or is it a different kind of story?

In this regard, Charlie Cox explained: It’s a season 1, not a season 4. It’s about something completely new, he told ExtraTV. To this media outlet he also commented, “I think it’s the way to go. If you’re going to do it again, do it differently.” Since it became known that the rights to Daredevil were returning to Disney, this has been one of the key issues regarding the management of the character.

This, taking into account that the series developed by Netflix counts on a fandom powerful, something key to both Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio being back. About it, the actor said, “It was a big gamble. For a long time I thought it wouldn’t be possible“.

It is worth remembering that the Netflix series was not renewed after its third season. Within them, the first and third are celebrated by both critics and fans; especially the one. Delving into his emotions regarding the project, Charlie Cox explained, “It’s very exciting. It feels like having a second life, after having developed so much love for the character and the people involved in the project. Now we are embarking on a new journey. Everything begins anew. I am very grateful.

Daredevil: Born Again will have a total of 18 episodes and is scheduled to premiere during 2024. So far, this would be the most extensive production in television format developed by Marvel and Disney, as part of the expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On the details of the project, Charlie Cox commented that he does not know much more and has not yet read the script.
