“I find this absolutely incredible as I have done nothing but be considerate of people like Paul Burrell over the years,” Charles’ letter read. The press reportedly offered employees large sums of money to divulge details. “An employee has been offered a total of £5m by the newspapers in recent weeks,” the 73-year-old wrote.
“Unfortunately, we are now being treated as mere pawns in a terrifying and ongoing media war, with a complete disregard for the true facts and huge sums of money being offered as kickbacks to former and current employees so that they manifest their pathetic jealousies and their thirst for revenge in public.”
The case against Burrell was eventually dropped after it emerged the Queen had agreed to take the property. Valentina Borghi works for the auction house that now auctions the letter. She told the Daily Mail: ‘It is rare to find a letter from Prince Charles where he is so open about his feelings.
