Resources for student journalists

NECIR believes strongly in the importance of watchdog and in-depth investigative reporting as essential to democracy. We hold faith in student endeavors—independent investigations, innovative collaborations or a variety of training programs and journalism schools. Today's student journalists will become tomorrow's watchdogs.

We encourage you to look for issues in your school, religious, or local communities that seek clarification and transparency. On these pages we’ve assembled a toolkit to help you in your investigations: there are pages with story ideas and links to tip sheets, a list of further resources, and a place for you to send questions to NECIR staff. You can also learn your rights and responsibilities as a journalist.

Investigative journalism can be hard and time-consuming, but perseverance and dogged reporting pay off.
